In the United Kingdom, the representative office of the Ethno Art Fest company hosted the Historical and Art exhibition «CHARLES DICKENS. On the occasion of the 210th birthday» from February 30 to February 20, 2022.

The year 2022 marks the 210th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens (1812-1870), an English writer and social critic. He created some of the world's best-known characters and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. His works enjoyed unprecedented popularity during his lifetime, and by the 20th century, critics and scholars had recognised him as a literary genius.

His first book was a series of sketches (short stories) from London`s life which he published under the pseudonym ‘Boz’ (1835). The book «The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club» was a success. His most famous novels are « «Nicholas Nickeleby» (1839), (1850), «Dombey and son» (1848), «The Bleak House» (1853), «Hard Times” (1854), «A Tale of Two Cities» (1859), «Great Expectations» (1861), «Our Mutual Friend» (1865), «Little Dorrit» (1857).  In his novels «Oliver Twist», «Nicholas Nickeleby», «David Copperfield» Charles Dickens described the hard life of homeless children at school and workhouses.

The central exhibit was the «Portrait of Charles Dickens» painted by Rinat Kuramshin. The portrait was commissioned by a British collector. The author of the painting tried  to convey a reliable resemblance to the model. The exhibition also featured other art objects of art dedicated to Charles Dickens.

A separate section of the exhibition was made up of rare books dedicated to Dickens. Among them are the «Chrismas Carol», «Oliver Twist»,  «Christmas Books»,  «David Copperfield», and some others.  The exhibition also featured photographs, illustrations for Dickens' books, posters, etc.
